Carmelite Monastery, Maryton Grange, Liverpool

We are an enclosed community of twenty six Discalced Carmelite Nuns of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel who live a life of prayer for the Church and for the world. Founded in 2012 from the Carmelite Monasteries of Liverpool, Golders Green and Upholland, we have become one united Carmel with a strong community spirit. Although we are in Liverpool, we are known as 'Maryton Carmel' to distinguish us from the former Liverpool Carmel, as our coming together was not an amalgamation of two communities with an existing one but a new beginning for each one of us. We hope you enjoy watching the video below which offers a brief insight into our community life. Thank you for visiting our website and may God bless you now and always.
"Before being a human construction, religious community is a gift of the Spirit. It is the love of God, poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, from which religious community takes its origin and is built
as a true family gathered together in the Lord's name. "

Pope St John Paul II
